A typical farmhouse in Piedmont Monferrato

Le Cascine degli Olmi, "The Elms Farmhouses", originates from a typical 19th century property belonging to an ancient noble family where all the farming activities were carried out and continued until the mid ‘50s, when it was abandoned.

It is located on a plateau with unlimited views on the Alps and the Apennines. Its park, surrounded by vineyards, comprises a bay oaks wood sloping down to the bordering 36 holes Villa Carolina Golf course.

Over several decades, the atmospheric and natural events produced serious structural damages to the four buildings forming the property. Given the beautiful environment and its unique position, the new proprietors decided to bring "Le Cascine" property back to a new life; the two phases restoration project was developed by the new proprietors in conjunction with Studio Clavarino, a primary architectural firm based in Genoa and Milan and specialised in the restoration of ancient sites, luxury hotels and residential developments.

The project was inspired by apparently contrasting objectives: on one side the desire for a property with all of today comforts and state of the art technologies, on the opposite the respect for the unique imprinting of the past, preserving its nature and charme.

The first phase of the renovation plan has been completed: following the demolition of large parts of the original building, the new mansion is already inhabited.

The second phase of the restoration plan refers to the reconstruction of two connected farmhouses in the same park, sharing the same principles exploited in the completed portion, thus allowing for internal layouts redesigned in accordance to the needs of the property, state of the art technologies and energy saving techniques, ancient materials, stones, wood beams and floorboards.

Le Cascine degli Olmi:

- a full comforts country mansion house maintaining the ancient character and charme.

- a full immersion in a territory with its superb nature and history, the smell of its wines and foods.
